Utrecht

Utrecht is one of the oldest cities in The Netherlands, dating back to Roman times. In the 16th century, Utrecht was one of the most powerful political and important religious epicentres of the region. Nowadays, Utrecht is the 4th largest city in The Netherlands.

Utrecht has a fabulous and very compact medieval city centre with a lot of squares and canals, churches and also the famous cathedral: The Dom. Near the canals are wharves,  used as store houses in the past, but nowadays they are in use as restaurants and cafes with terrace spaces. It is nice sitting here during summertime while boats are passing by.
